I often saw rice growing in rice paddies as a child. The appearance of rice varies depending on the variety of rice. Some seeds sprout from the middle of the leaves when they are in season, and others ripen when the leaves drop. The taste varies depending on the variety. When I was a child, rice was so scarce that the farmers were more concerned with the amount they could grow than with the taste of the rice.  They planted good varieties to yield as much rice as possible.  They also planted pumpkins and then grafted on watermelons in order to have a good harvest. When the sap comes from the roots of the pumpkin and feeds up into the grafted watermelon, the watermelon grows very big and turns green like a pumpkin. In this way, the farmer tried to produce a lot of fruit.

The Lord wants the holy seed of the Word to bear holy and beautiful fruit in us.  The fruit we bear will be different from each other’s – just as, even though the same seeds are sown in two fields, one will bear large, beautiful fruit; and the other will bear small, tangible fruit.  If we have in us holy works which please the Lord, we are valuable, even though the world sees us as worthless.

Wise farmers do not miss the time to sow seeds.  Our only chance for us to lead a faith life is when we are in the flesh. The flesh is our only opportunity to live a life of faith.
Whoever does not use his earthly life properly is a fool.
We should not miss the opportunity to live a faith life in the time of the flesh:  this will make us rich in the time of soul. We should not miss opportunities to be faithful, and any spiritual opportunity for our souls. We need to seize every opportunity, wherever we are.

The Bible says, “Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked.” (Psalm 84:10) This is the person who is wise and makes the most of every opportunity.
