The blessing that can make our physical bodies be affluent is no use to my soul when our lives shrivel like fallen leaves and our bodies’ days have expired. However, the eternal living blessing that God gave us benefits us perpetually even after our bodies are gone. Therefore, God tells us to choose life. (Deut 30:19) Although someone leaves a large fortune to their offspring, if they waste it all, there is nothing left. On the other hand, the life God gave us blesses us eternally to a thousand generations. God gave us the word to make us possess it is. Some are bringing death as they fall into their desires but cannot discern whether or not they are. If we are blinded by lust, we lose discernment. After desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death. “Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.” (James 1:5) When Samson laid his head on Delilah’s lap, if he had discerned her hidden intention, he would have reared up and stormed out of the room. He did not though, he told her the secret of his great strength and as a result, he was set to grinding grain in the prison with his eyes gouged out. (Judges 16:21) We become wretched like this without discernment. Hence, we should pray to God to be given discerning wisdom. “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” (James 1:5) We should follow heaven’s examples, not the world’s. During the time we live on the ground, I hope you discern what spiritual life is and what is no good for your soul and select day by day what God wants.
