Give His Life as a Ransom for Many

Mark 10:45

God is the Creator who has everything and lacks nothing. He can do everything for He is able. This Almighty One came down into the world in the flesh since He has creatures who He loves. That's us, you and I, and all mankind. We were doomed to be cursed, suffer, die and go to hell due to our sins; but Jesus showed his love for by saving us from all these things. He is the Savior of the world. "For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." Mark 10:45. See also John 3:16 and Philippians 2:5-8. We can't avoid curses, physical and spiritual suffering, and death due to sins and the devil. Only through Jesus can we be set free from them. Jesus Christ is the one we absolutely need. The reason that God’s Word became flesh was to accomplish His will - the salvation of the world, by taking our sins by Jesus’ death on the Cross. This is how He has loved us. Though He is the absolute being who is worthy of all glory and honor; He humbly came to this world. No one knew that He was the Son of God who became flesh. Who would have dared to persecute and nail Him on the Cross to kill Him, if they had known this fact? But He came to pay back the wages of our sins - all of our curses, suffering and death. “But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.” Isaiah 53:5-6. See Isaiah 53:1-10. All our sin, death and suffering in hell had been laid on him. He suffered unimaginable pain and persecution because of his love for us. On the night when He was arrested, Jesus was with his disciples. He took the bread and the cup which was a substitute for His own flesh and blood. He was about to drink the cup of suffering, his death on the cross in order to take our sins. But even those who had been his disciples for 3 years were unaware of His imminent death. He cried out about it in prayer, but He had to bear the cross for us. In Gethsemane, He prayed in anguish and deep distress regarding His death on the cross, but He was rejected by the Father. And on the way to the courtyard of Caiaphas to face his trial, He was deserted by his disciples. He suffered all the scorn, persecution and flogging. Therefore when He was wounded, my blame was gone. When His body was torn apart, my sins were washed away. When He was whipped, the pain of my disease was gone. Through His death, He became the Savior of the world. This is the knowledge of life, and the expectation of our lives. This is our faith. Dear beloved brothers and sisters, we are the very persons who have received amazing grace through the suffering of Jesus Christ on our behalf. We could never have earned this. This grace is yours as much as you know it and possess it, and it becomes your happiness and freedom. You can't help but be faithful. Let us give thanks to the Lord for this grace and be humbled before Him!
