Matthew 26:36~46

God decided to help man who was cursed and doomed to perish under sin. He sent His one and only Son, Jesus Christ, into this world and lay all our iniquities on Him. Jesus died on the cross instead of us (John 6:38-40, 3:16, Isaiah 53:5-6), because the wages of sin is death (Roman 6:20). Even though Jesus is the Son of God, He experienced the most extreme pain and suffering in order to achieve His Father’s will. For Jesus to die was the will of God the Father. Only Jesus could die for our sins, because He was the only one who had no sin and therefore could solve all the suffering caused by sin. It is the unfailing work done by God and Jesus. Jesus told His disciples the reason why He came into this world many times (Matthew 16:21, 17:22-23, 20:18-19, Mark 10:45). Jesus, who was fully God and fully man, intentionally came to this world to die in the flesh. That's why He prayed in Gethsemane, filled with sorrow and a heavy heart, on the night before He would be killed. He had to fulfill the Father's will for the salvation of man with His weak body (Matthew 26:36~39). God let Jesus die as He said through the prophet Isaiah, to take away all our transgressions and iniquities and to give us peace and healing (Isaiah 53:5-6). God made His own Son, Jesus, drink the bitter cup of unbearable suffering. And His Son, Jesus, had to drink it in order to fulfill His Father's will. He knew the suffering of His Father who made Him drink the cup. And He also knew that it was impossible to avoid it, so He prayed with loud cries and tears to God that He would be able to overcome. It was the climax of His life in order to solve our sin problem and to save us. Christianity was not created by man's beliefs and doctrines. It is based on the fact that the wages of sin is death (Roman 8:1-2). When we believe that Jesus came to this world in the flesh to die on the cross and pay back the sin of the world, we can become righteous and be saved. Christianity is possessing the amazing grace of Jesus and being freed from all sins, curses and hell. This is the real truth (John 8:31~32). Therefore, every church and believer must rely on Jesus' blood as God's will. And we should kneel down before the love of God shown through the cross with thanks and obedience. We must live and die with loyalty to Jesus who died cruelly. It is the right thing to do by those who are under the grace given by Jesus' pain and death. Dear brothers and sisters, let's obey God and live and die only God's will by prayer. And let's confess that we are saved by the grace and the blood of Jesus Christ and have eternal life. Let's show the evidence that we had received grace by acting on it. Lord, let me drink the bitter cup that you drank.
