[Shepherding the sheep with one heart] The aroma of Jesus Christ

Lilies can’t give forth the fragrance of roses. Lilies can only send forth their own smell. That is the nature of lilies. When we are hungry, we seek food to eat. This is an instinct of the flesh. When Jesus Christ dwells in us, we put forth the aroma of Jesus and show His characteristics. If we don’t have such characteristics, we might not be Christians who believe in Jesus.

The more we touch lilies, the more they send forth their fragrance. Likewise, we must give thanks to God while knowing and experiencing the spiritual things of God. We need to have a clear purpose of giving thank offerings for our birthdays. We have to thank God that we have become His children by being saved through the blood of Jesus on the Cross, even though we were born in sin, were doomed to perish as the wages of sin and deserved to be punished in hell. We not only thank God that we were born, but we also thank God that we are born again and have become a new creation through the Holy Spirit after believing in Jesus. What would have happened to us at the end of our lives, if we hadn’t met Jesus when we were in the flesh?

No one can easily forget an experience after a shock. The books of MATTHEW, MARK, LUKE and JOHN were written by Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. They all followed the Lord Jesus when Jesus was on the earth. The Bible started to be recorded forty years after Jesus ascended into heaven. How could they remember the events in detail after a few years? They wrote about the amazing events and their vivid memories as they were inspired by the Holy Spirit.

The four gospels have many things in common. This is because the writers were shocked in the same ways, so they have so much in common. The most shocking thing is that we who deserved to go to hell for the wages of sins are saved. Those who are truly shocked about that can’t ever forget the grace of the Lord. They also keep giving thanks to God for being saved. We ought to have this unforgettable event in our hearts and minds every day so that we never stop giving thanks for God’s grace.
