Faith Life in Obedience to the Bible

  • 2015.02.23 10:59

“The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow
deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. Such teachings come through
hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron.”
(1Timothy 4:1-2)

Abandoning the faith means following other gods, deceiving spirits
and teachings of the demons, even though they attend church. The other gods drain
the spiritual energy of those who live their faith life to keep them from living
spiritually. They drive us to follow fleshly benefits and to live opposing God’s
will. While living our faith life, we could have situations that keep us from living
according to God’s word.

Difficulties of our flesh keep us from living spiritual
lives and from obeying God’s word. Let me take an instance, the senior pastor
earnestly asks you to pray every evening, but church members complain saying,
“We get tired in the evening. Why do you compel us to pray every evening?”

The Bible tells us to pray continually (1Thessalonians 5:17). It says that we should
be clear-minded and self-controlled so that we can pray because the end of all things
is near (1 Peter 4:7). Likewise, the situations of the flesh and spiritual life oppose
each other. The spiritual life is living according to the word of God. Saints should
live for spiritual reality, not for fleshly benefits.

We should focus on what God’s word requests. We should not be deceived by the other gods which are deceiving spirits
that drive us to follow fleshly benefits. In the fleshly view point, living according
to His word results in disadvantages and failures. But only by obeying His word, our
soul won’t fail or disappoint in the time of soul.
