Romans 8:1-11

There is nothing that God cannot do for He knows everything and is able, but we humans are incapable and full of ignorance and impossibilities. We are completely unaware of the fact that we are doomed to perish eternally under the wages of sin. We also don’t know that our sinful minds produce the result of the law of sin and death; or that the Holy Spirit has accomplished our salvation. Instead we think that the meaning of life is to earn money and to be successful and to indulge in luxury, gratifying our sinful nature. But the result of these things is torment in hell, like the rich man in the parable. But we can listen to the voice of God - His Word, which is truth, and gives life to our bodies and spirits. The Word of God is a light which is righteous, holy, spiritual and good. The wages of sin is death, destruction and punishment in hell, but the Word reveals all sin. God the Father knows that even though we are under sin, we didn’t even know it and we are also unable to solve it. So he finally decided to send His Son, Jesus Christ, to shed His blood on the cross, in order to take up our sins and to redeem us from death. But, ironically, we didn’t know what He had done for us and we are still under sin like its slaves, and will perish. “Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.” (Romans 8:5). Though God gave everything to spare our souls, we have rejected His love. We don’t surrender to the law of God’s love and grace which was shown by the death of His only Son. If there is no repentance in you when you hear of this amazing love, you are God’s enemy and only His wrath is waiting for you. God has loved us so much even to the point of giving us the life of His begotten Son. Whoever betrays this love doesn’t please Him. What is His joy? We should receive His love though His only Son and be saved and set free from sin and death. “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." John 8:32. The work of the devil cuts us off from God and makes our spirits to not receive any grace from the Word of God and finally it makes us abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons (1 Timothy 4:1-2). If the Spirit of Jesus is in us, we will be filled with the life of the Spirit, and be freed from the law of sin and death and from our sinful minds. “This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.” Romans 3:22-24. Whoever surely receives the life of salvation by faith, shouldn’t boast about their righteousness, but should speak of the work of the blood of Jesus Christ that cleanses us. Those who do will not abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits, for they stand firm in Christ. There is no way for them to give up their faith. But whoever is led into temptation, has forgotten the amazing grace by which they have been redeemed. They don’t give thanks to God, but they grumble and complain and are lazy and idle. They used to be spiritual, but have lost the grace of God and have returned to their old selves. Dear brothers and sisters! Legally speaking, Jesus Christ was judged under the law of death instead of us, and we have been saved from sin and death. What a great salvation we have! Do not give yourself to the mind of sinful man and death. Let us overcome by the Word of God and the Holy Spirit and be free in the law of the Spirit of life. Amen!
