James 5:13-18
13. Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray. Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise. 14. Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord.
15. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven. 16. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. 17. Elijah was a man just like us. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. 18. Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops.
God knows everything and is almighty. God helps us by His almighty power, and never sleeps when helping his children (Psalm 121:3-8). Therefore, man has to live by his grace in all circumstances. God's providence is great for He created all men on the earth to live by it. God sent Jesus Christ to the world to help us. Jesus resolved all our impossibilities. He raised the dead, healed lepers, drove out demons and forgave sinners'. He opened blind man’s eyes, the mute’s mouths and the deaf man’s ears. He resolved all kinds of problems either physical or spiritual problems.
Jesus Christ is our only Savior. Jesus told us to ask for whatever we need (John 14:14). Jesus gave us His name so we need to ask all our needs to God. If we don't, we would not know Jesus or we would regard ourselves not needing his help.
We don't ask for God's help if we don't regard our spiritual reality as real. We were doomed to perish by the devil's work. We cannot be freed unless we rely on Jesus' help. Therefore, not praying for our problems is being arrogant before God. It is a great blessing and limitless glory that we can resolve all our problems by asking help from Jesus Christ through prayer (John 15:7-8).
The devil's work tries to ruin our lives never rests day or night. Curse, pains and diseases are from the devil and sin attack us ceaselessly until death. Our enemy never stops attacking us unless Jesus helps. Our problem of daily circumstances, family, business and physical illness never take a break. The best way that we can choose is praying to Jesus who can end our sufferings.
Prayer is handing our sufferings over to Jesus so that he can resolve them. It is the best inheritance from God that makes Him work for us. The Bible said we should pray especially when we suffer, have diseases, suffer under sin and curses, or are in misery. Prayer is the ultimate power of God who can set us free from all kinds of suffering. The answer from prayer the his practice of his love (James 5:17-18, Joshua 10:12-14).
Dear saints, if you believe that Jesus Christ will practice his promise of answering prayers, your prayer by faith will save you (James 5:15). Jacob cried out for God's answer. He believed that God would help him for He had promised to help Jacob. Finally he got the answer just before death.
Dear saints, though your problems, pains, diseases or death may attack you harshly, though your enemy may threaten you, please ask for God's help and get freed from it. Please trust God and pray, then you will be free.
Jesus told us to ask not to fall into temptation and to be delivered from evil. Only Jesus can deliver you from miseries, temptations and the worst situations. Please do not cry under sufferings, but pray in name of Jesus. Please drive out your enemies and be freed like calves released from stall (Malachi 4:2).
Prayer is God's request and his duty to help us. His answer is our blessing that resolves our impossibilities. Dear saints, please be freed by God's promise to answer us. And let's thank to him and praise him. His truth will set us free.
