Romans 8:12-17

12 Therefore, brothers and sisters, we have an obligation but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it. 13 For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live. 14 For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. 15 The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” 16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. 17 Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory. God sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to save man from death because the wages of sin is death. He bore all of man’s curses, diseases, death and eternal punishment in hell (Isaiah 53:5~6). He gave all things in the universe for our flesh, and He has healed our diseases by His wounds. And He has granted us eternal life and heaven for our souls, by being whipped and shedding His blood on the cross. Man lives for seventy or eighty years, and then he dies and his body returns to the dust of the ground. Everyone dies in the end, regardless of wealth, age, gender and social status. Our souls dwell in our body, but our souls will live forever. Jesus redeemed our souls with his blood and entrusted them to the Holy Spirit, who nurtures us. Man has sin, and the mind of sinful man is death - it is hostile to God and does not submit to His law. If Jesus put our bodies in charge of our souls, we would die because of our sinful minds, and we would become the enemies of God and be destroyed (Romans 8:5~8). Those who live by the sinful nature will not inherit the kingdom of God (Galatians 5:19~25), so Jesus let the Holy Spirit keep our souls (Romans 8:12~15, John 14:16~20). Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to protect our souls and to let us preach the Gospel of Jesus' salvation. He built his church, the body of Christ, by the Holy Spirit to let His people listen to the Word of truth, live by it, be nurtured and preserved, and to preach the Gospel. Jesus told us to preach the Gospel only by the Holy Spirit (John 14:26, Acts 1:8). If the church is not built up by the Holy Spirit and doesn't bring up its members and teach them by the Spirit - then Satan, the devil and evil spirits will hunt their souls by using their sinful desires. Man’s sinful desires have no fear and they challenge and resist the Spirit of God. There is no way to control it. But Jesus teaches, keeps and raises those whose souls have been redeemed with His blood by the Holy Spirit. Dear brothers and sisters, let us live by the Holy Spirit. This is the only way to live forever. We should continually be filled with the Holy Spirit. Let us live by prayer, the Word of God and the Holy Spirit. Therefore we should repent before the working of Jesus' blood of how we have lived according to the flesh. Let us live by the Spirit, protect our souls, preach the Gospel, and live Jesus' life by the Spirit. Only by the Holy Spirit!
