Store your Treasure in Heaven

Matthew 6:19-23

19."Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20.But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. 22."The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light. 23.But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!

God blessed humans and let them rule over and have everything the Lord made (Genesis 1:29-30). So people ruled over the earth, cultivated the land and became wealthy by their efforts (Genesis 26:12-13). Some are developing science and make tremendous money. Others do business well and are rich, and others labor hard to manage their life. Still others seize power and make wealth exercising their power.

People try to be rich because it is the best inheritance for their flesh in the world. People want to be happy both their body and soul so they are earnestly trying their best for that. Many people even lost their lives to get power and wealth.

However they are devoted to get something with all their heart and mind, what can it do for their life? When something impossible that cannot be solved by man's culture and ability happens, those things are nothing to them. However they try to get something, everything will be meaningless when they die. Sometimes they are cheated and robbed of their possessions. Though they achieved their dreams and success, suddenly they die from disease, accident and calamity. So is whatever they did to be happy useful?

What will be the last of man's desires? What is the result of maltreating their body and soul? Their toil under the sun will make them disappointed (Ecclesiastes1:2-11; Luke 12:16-21). People know there is no barn for storing their fame, property and life in this world, but they still try to preserve them. Though they know, they are deceived.

Jesus Christ proclaimed the new knowledge for ignorant humans, His word, knowledge and the truth that people should follow forever. Jesus Christ said, "But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven" (Matthew 6:20). If we put our treasure in the barn as Jesus said, it will never disappear or be taken away.

Jesus Christ shed blood, was nailed on the cross and made us His children by His blood. His word is truth which will never be changed. Therefore we should trust what Jesus said and believe the promised word.

Dear brothers and sisters, if today were the last day for you, have you prepared something for your soul? Where will you preserve your soul? We should put our soul and treasure in heaven. If your soul is preserved in heaven, store your property and toils in heaven for eternal richness and glory. A meaningless life will result in everlasting regret.

Let us seek His kingdom and His righteousness and not have regrets. Let us put our hope in heaven. So let us have eternal happiness without regret. When we are bright, we will see it and will not make eternal mistakes.
