Be prepared for the end of all things

1 Peter 3:8~13 God is the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.

There is a time to plant and a time to uproot in the scheme of all things. Likewise, in man’s life, there is also a time to be born and a time to die. God began the universe, therefore it has an end as well. He made the heavens and the earth through Jesus, whose Name He also allows us to use. Moreover, He has given his Son authority to judge (John 5:25-27).

The sun rises and the sun sets and hurries back to where it rises again. The wind blows round and round, ever returning to its course (Ecclesiastes 1:5-6). What does man gain from all his labor at which he toils under the sun? Since there is a time to be born and a time to die, the body of man will surely return to dust.

No matter how hard you try to achieve something in this world, it might be meaningless. Solomon, a king whom we have never heard or seen before, said “Meaningless! Meaningless! Utterly meaningless! Everything is meaningless!” The Lord, who knows everything, says “"Consider how the lilies grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.”

Living just for the body of man which will soon after fall away, will be meaningless! We can’t forget that we are spiritual beings. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body. That’s your spirit. It shall have judgment according to the Word of God according to how we lived before the Lord while we are on earth. “Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment” (Hebrews 9:27).

“The day of the Lord will come like a thief. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9). The Lord has fulfilled his promised Word for us. And He became the Savior of mankind as He had promised.

Jesus will be the judge in the day of the Lord. You should repent of how you haven’t lived righteously on the earth so that you may be prepared and that you yourselves may not be judged. The Lord Jesus accomplished His ministry and He has gone to heaven. He finally sent out the Holy Spirit. He doesn’t want even a single person to perish. He commanded us to preach the Gospel to the ends of the earth (Acts 1:8).

When the Good News of Jesus, our redemption, spreads to the ends of the earth, the end of all things will come. Thus “be clear minded and self-controlled so that you may pray” (1Peter 4:7-11). For the day of the Lord will come like a thief. Let us be alert and self-controlled in order to evangelize by faithfulness according to the will of God. Live by the Holy Spirit, and not by the sinful nature, for the time of soul.
