1 Peter 1:18-25

God is life. Whatever comes from God has abundant life. God is eternal, for He has eternal life. He is holy and righteous, and when the Lord formed the man, He gave him this holy and righteous life as well.

Sadly, man ate the forbidden fruit and became a sinner who lost his holiness and righteousness; and consequently, curses and death came upon him as the wages of sin.

“Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned.” (Rom 5:12)

The devil destroyed the holiness of man, and therefore became the eternal enemy of God and man. “He who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil's work.” (1 John 3:8)

The devil still prowls around like a roaring lion, looking to devour God’s people (1 Pet 5:8-9). Demons also try to deceive believers to abandon the faith, and to let them follow deceiving spirits and bring them under the curses that are the wages of sin (1 Tim 4:1-2).

Evil spirits deceive our thoughts to make us sin, so that we will be cursed and ruined by the wages of sin (Rom 6:23). Therefore whoever has cursing thoughts and deeds and their own way of life, has sin. That is earthly, unspiritual, and of the devil (James 3:14-16).

We have to overcome the enemy’s work regardless of the circumstances. It was not with worldly ethics, morals, good deeds, or silver and gold that we were redeemed from the wages of our sin, the eternal punishment of Hell; but with the precious blood of Jesus Christ (1 Pet 1:18-19).

The world is rushing to destruction, because it doesn’t know about this amazing event accomplished by Jesus; but rather it is only chasing after sinful desires. Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace that is to be given to you when Jesus Christ is revealed (1 Pet 1:13).

Our lives were redeemed from our filthy sins that we had committed in the past, therefore we should be preserved in the very state of holiness by the blood of Jesus Christ. We are aliens and strangers while living on the earth (1 Pet 1:17).

This is the earnestness confession that doesn’t forget the work of the blood of Jesus, so that we won’t be deceived by evil spirits, but be in the grace of the precious blood of the lamb without blemish and defect.

Dear brothers and sisters! Let us always be holy in our words by the working of the blood of Jesus Christ for the time of our spirits - turning away from the temptation of the world, for we will be in the flesh for only a little while longer (1 Pet 1:23-24).

This is the only property, the everlasting possession and the eternal inheritance for the time of our souls. Let us not be deceived by the devil and evil spirits and even our own sinful desires. It only leads to destruction.
