Jesus Came to Call Sinners

Matthew 9:9-13

God is love. He loved man, who turned against Him, so He sent His only Son, Jesus, into this world to save them. Jesus came to solve the spiritual and physical problems of man. Whoever is miserable spiritually and physically, can meet with Jesus and their problems will be solved. He is our only Savior because He is the only one able to resolve all our difficulties.

Jesus didn’t come to meet those who think they are good and smart and behave morally and live by themselves, but He came to those who acknowledge that they can’t live by their own strength. When people brought Jesus a paralytic, lying on a mat, they were confident that He would heal him. Jesus saw their faith saying “Take heart, son; your sins are forgiven”. The moment the paralytic heard the voice of the Lord, he got healed immediately and picked up his mat and went home (Matthew 9:2). Since this man’s sins were forgiven, all his spiritual and physical troubles were settled.

The biggest problem of man is sin which works constantly by curses and punishment. So Jesus said throughout the whole Bible, ‘I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.” The passion of Christ is the whole measure of how He loves us. “But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all" (Isaiah 53:5~6).

If you believe that Jesus bore our sufferings and solved them, your suffering caused by curses and sin, will be resolved by faith. By His death on the Cross, we are redeemed as soon as we repent. Whoever claims that they don’t commit sin, don’t have anything to do with Jesus and the word of God can’t live in him "If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives" (1 John 1:10). Today, Let us surely meet Jesus, let us be freed from sins and sufferings, for this is the desire of the Lord, Jesus.
