The Church which Witnesses by the Holy Spirit

Acts 1:4-8

God is love, and once He decides to love something, He will never abandon it (John 13:1). God decided to love man, and His love is the full extent of His power. We were created for love. After we die our flesh returns to the dust, and our souls, which are our essence, live forever (Genesis 2:7). God allowed us to live and to possess all things by His grace, including our eternal souls (Deuteronomy 8:1-3). But man disobeyed God and left His Word, and became miserable beings who are subject to death due to the wages of sin (Genesis 2:17).

All of Adam’s descendants are subject to this same curse. Because of our sin, we are sentenced to go to the unquenchable fire of hell after we die (Revelation 20:13-15). But God decided to love man, and sent His one and only Son, Jesus, to save us from eternal destruction (John 3:16). When Jesus came to this world, He had the same flesh as we do. The reason why He came in the flesh was to give His life as a ransom for our sins by His death.

The Pharisees and the council of the elders wanted to kill Him because He claimed to be the son of God. They thought they were being loyal to God (Luke 22:67-71). Jesus Christ came to serve us by taking up our sins (Mark 10:45), and our attitude should be the same as His (Philippians 2:5-8). When Jesus healed the sick and raised the dead, many people followed Him. But when He was accused of blasphemy and sentenced to death, even His own disciples disowned Him and fled.

People were afraid and wanted to save their own lives. But later Jesus said to them, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth" (Acts 1:8).

At the moment that Jesus died on the cross, He said “It is finished”. Unless we tell others of this great salvation, how can they know about it and believe in Him? God didn’t leave us alone to testify about His son, but He sent the Holy Spirit.

The aim of the church should be to have the passion of winning souls. For Jesus solved our sin problem which leads us to hell, so we should try to bring even one person to Jesus by urging them to believe in this amazing grace of Jesus by the Holy Spirit. God has loved us even to the point of killing His only son to save us, and He has built churches to proclaim this good news.
