The Blessing of Faith, Give Thanks for the Grace

Luke 17:11-19

God loves man, the being that He had created, and pours unlimited grace on him. Everyone on this earth lives only by His grace. God has given us everything on heaven and on earth for our flesh, and He has given us Jesus Christ for our souls (John 3:16). So God should be glorified and receive our thanks. But so many times we don’t, and we betray Him in everything that we do.

Being impersonal to God is a big sin and will lead us to destruction. The reason that God sent His only Son, Jesus Christ into this world was to solve the things that cause curses and death both spiritually and physically, and to avoid the punishment of Hell. Jesus was given to us as the peak of His grace and love. He is the only Savior whom we can serve and the only one that gives life to our body and spirit. “Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6).

In today’s Scripture, there were 10 lepers who seized their chance, and they desperately tried to meet Jesus, and they were completely healed by Him. Just imagine how happy they were. There were no words to express their joyful hearts, and they were the only ones who knew it fully.

Ironically, only one out of ten came back and giving thanks to Him. Jesus asked where the other nine were, not because He didn’t know; but because they didn’t give thanks to Him, even though they had received the same portion of grace. Jesus Christ, the holy Son of God, has a personality just like we do. He had given grace to them, so He should receive their thanks.

Man however, listened to the devil, God’s enemy, and betrayed His grace. But amazingly God didn’t forsake us. He sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, into this world to die for the sins that cause us to perish physically and spiritually. He bought us at a price by His death on the cross. This amazing grace cannot be compared with all the things that He has given us in heaven and on earth. How can we ever repay Him for the grace that He didn’t spare His only Son’s life? Giving His Only Son for us is the climax of grace and is the highest form of love. Unless you give thanks to God, how you can be a human being! Christ Jesus took up all our spiritual and physical sufferings, the only thing we can do about this grace is to be grateful to Him for our entire lives.

“He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed. For you were like sheep going astray, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls” (1 Peter 2:24).

If you ignore and neglect the grace accomplished by the Lord Jesus, you have no hope. “If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God. Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. How much more severely do you think a man deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God under foot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace?” (Hebrews 10:26-29).

Though you have been forgiven, if you don’t give thanks to Jesus, He would be disappointed in you. Knowing the Lord is faith, service and our faith life. Dear brothers and sisters! Let us give thanks to Him with all our heart, mind, strength and life, for He has given us His life by shedding His blood and by having His flesh torn apart to save us.

Let us be preserved in Jesus so that we can solve all our impossibilities, curses, diseases and death by the grace of the Lord and be happy and free in Heaven and on earth forever!
