In chapter 1 of Matthew, there is a record of the genealogy of Jesus Christ about the ancestor of faith from Abraham to Joseph. “Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.” (Matthew 1:16) After all, Jesus was born of Mary who was pledged to be married to Joseph.
Then, who is Mary? She was sincerely waiting for Messiah to come to this world. The angel of God appeared in her dream and said, “You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus.”(Luke 1:31) how badly she waited for the Messiah. And the angel also said, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. For nothing is impossible with God.” (Luke 1:35,37) Then, Mary answered, “I am the Lord’s servant, “May it be to me as you have said.”(Luke1:38). This means she has been prepared for the work.
How embarrassed would she be to see Joseph who was pledged to be married to when Mary was found to be pregnant? How hard would she raise Jesus under the bad situation escaped to Egypt after giving birth to Him? How much troubled was Mary as a mother in her heart looking at the scene of how the Son died on the Cross at the age of thirty-three? The reason why she dealt with everything is that she knew it was the will of God. What Jesus Christ died suffering on the Cross was the love of God for human beings who were destined to go to hell for the wage of sins.
“Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned”(Romans 5:12)
