The Bible says people will love only themselves when the last days come nearer. Why do they love only themselves? It’s because they don’t want to suffer. They lie to protect themselves for avoiding suffering. They also do not show that they believe in Jesus and just try to live by earthly desire and sinful nature. In the end, they deny the Lord. They don’t even know it is the devil’s scheme to destroy their souls.
They are busy to love their flesh that lasts less than a hundred years and be fade away. But they don’t love their souls that live forever. They act like that because of not knowing that they are spiritual beings created by God who breathed into them the breath of life.
What the apostle Paul said to Timothy “People will be lovers of themselves in the last days.” is that people devote themselves to their flesh. They are not stingy spending on people they love. They rather want to give everything to their loving ones. Loving themselves in the last days means that they spend everything generously on loving their flesh. Being obsessed with materialism which insists that money is God, they try to satisfy only the desire of the flesh by eating, wearing, and spending money luxuriously.
How’s your life of faith? If you love your flesh more than you worship God, do the Lord’s work, pray and evangelize to live according to the Lord's will, you need to turn back to love your soul quickly realizing you are trapped with loving your flesh.
Romans 8:13 “For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live.” Likewise, you don’t want to love the flesh but spend your life and time to love the Lord and your soul by the power of the Lord.
