[Shepherding the sheep with one heart] The one who hunger and thirst for righteousness

Those who are blessed before God are those who feel the thirst and hunger of their souls. The only means of satisfying the hunger and thirst of our souls is the Lord Jesus Christ. Only Jesus can satisfy our thirst. It is useless to give tens of million won to the person whose thirst might kill him, and it is just as useless to give him an honor, such as a doctoral degree or a parliamentary badge. This person just needs water to wet his dry neck and food to fill his hungry stomach.

The Lord knows what needs to be done to our desolated souls who are destined to die because of sin. A doctor can diagnose a sick person, but if the illness cannot be cured, the doctor cannot prevent the patient from dying. But if our soul’s sickness is diagnosed by God, the Almighty can solve any problem. "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled" (Matthew 5: 6), which means that God’s diagnosis is that all our soul’s problems are solved by hungering and thirsting for righteousness.

Our souls cannot be richly filled with the culture of this world, but only with Jesus.  So God tells us to come forward, if we want the hunger and thirst of our souls to be satisfied.  God does not say that someone who has a large house is blessed.  He doesn’t say that someone who wears an expensive mink coat is blessed.  He says that those who hunger and thirst for the righteousness that can only be satisfied by Jesus are blessed.
Please bear in mind that the person who acknowledges the problem of his soul and comes before Jesus Christ to solve the problem is the one who has been greatly blessed by the Lord.
